The Challenge

Jackie Ingram came to us with an existing Squarespace site that was falling short in a few key areas — image placement was inconsistent and the site didn’t hold up well on mobile. As we dug into her goals, it became clear the issues went deeper than layout tweaks: Jackie wanted to showcase a growing portfolio, sell her work online, and blog regularly about her craftsmanship. Squarespace’s rigid templates and limited content structure would have made all three difficult to scale.

  • Wanted to reach a local Cincinnati audience while also connecting with internship and job opportunities across the European region — two very different audiences with different search behavior.
  • Squarespace’s lack of native image optimization was hurting page performance and load times.
  • No real content organization system in place, making it hard to properly showcase her portfolio work Inconsistent image placement and a mobile experience that didn’t hold up across devices.
  • Needed to sell work online and blog about her craftsmanship, goals Squarespace’s rigid templates weren’t built to scale

What We Did

We migrated Jackie’s site to WordPress and built it out as a scalable, professional platform:

  • Custom theme development with unique, reusable components so new portfolio pieces and blog posts stay consistent without manual rebuilding.
  • Custom post types to keep portfolio, shop, and blog content clean and organized behind the scenes.
  • Local SEO targeting Cincinnati alongside a separate international SEO strategy to reach the European market for job/internship visibility.
  • Image optimization for faster load times, addressing a key gap in Squarespace’s performance.
  • WCAG AA accessibility compliance.
  • GDPR compliance to support her European audience and data privacy requirements.
  • Performance optimization across the site.
  • Security hardening with Wordfence.
  • Yoast SEO for granular on-page control (meta titles, descriptions, readability).

The Results

Jackie now has a site built to grow with her business rather than hold it back. Portfolio pieces, shop items, and blog posts are organized into clean, reusable layouts, so showcasing new work no longer means rebuilding a page from scratch. Optimized images and overall performance improvements give visitors — whether in Cincinnati or overseas — a faster, smoother browsing experience on any device. With WCAG AA accessibility and GDPR compliance built in, the site is welcoming and compliant for a broader, international audience. Dual-track local and European SEO give her visibility both in her home market and with the international opportunities she’s pursuing, while Wordfence security and Yoast’s SEO tools mean the site is easier to maintain, safer, and positioned to keep improving in search over time.
